Gunpla Expo 2016

The Gunpla Expo Winter 2016 is coming to Akihabara this month. Don't know what that is or why that's awesome? Read on.

In 1980, Bandai manufactured the very first Gundam robot plastic model kit (or “Gunpla”), based on the titular machine from the anime Mobile Suit Gundam. It was a huge success, creating a whole sub-culture of hobbyists, and since then, Bandai has sold over 450 million units of model kits worldwide. Bandai has since created the Gunpla Expo to show its robotic creations, and in 2011 it even started a custom building competition called the Gunpla Builders World Cup.

The Gunpla Expo is an event that travels around the world to show off all manner of Gunpla and Gunpla-related materials, games, kits, movies, and exhibits. There will be an estimated four-hundred individual model kits there, including previous GBWC championship builds, future releases, new additions, and even prototypes. In addition, exclusive models are sold at each Gunpla Expo that aren't available again anywhere else. Aside from models themselves, the expo features an exclusive video exhibit and a life-size digital Gundam exhibit, from Gundam the Iron-Blooded Orphans.

The Gunpla Expo comes to Akihabara from November 19th-23rd, it is an all-ages event and open free to anyone who is interested in tiny robots.

I will be travelling to the Gunpla Expo for the 2nd time this year, and I will come back with a follow-up video about my experience. Until then, here is my previous quick-edit of everything you could have seen at last season's expo:
